Anthony James Cars are proud to be offering this Hawk AC Cobra 289 FIA Le Mans for sale.

Based on a chassis and bodywork supplied by Hawk Cars, this is one of the finest replica 289 AC Cobra FIA 'Le Mans' available. This bespoke, hand-built AC Cobra 289 FIA Le was manufactured in collaboration with respected Cobra guru, Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars based on his stunning MkII Cobra chassis and body.

The initial idea was to construct a MkII AC Cobra for track, sprints and hill-climbs and naturally, like many good ideas, it got totally out of hand! This AC Cobra has been featured on BBC Television performing at Brands Hatch for presenter Paul Ross. It has also featured in numerous magazine articles including Cobra, Total Kit Car and Kit Car Specification. Also seen on Ronnie's road trip'...Dave TV..AC COBRA 289

Chassis:
Hawk 289 chassis, lightened, modified suspension pick up points to allow for vehicle to sit 50mm lower, rear of chassis modified to accommodate fitment of double wishbone suspension.

Roll Cage:
Full roll cage installed by Street Steel finished in white powder-coating. Designed originally to meet strict FIA requirements to give full protection whilst also stiffening the chassis to negate any flex that may occur under extreme driving conditions. Roll cage is attached to the front suspension mounts, chassis below scuttle, chassis behind driver and to rear most point of chassis. It is also cross-braced and gives the driver's cabin offering complete protection.

Suspension:
Front - Hawk fully adjustable double wishbone coil over shock. Avo shocks, Faulkner 9 x 2.5 250lbs springs. 18mm anti-roll bar.
Rear – Hawk fully adjustable double wishbone coil over shock. Avo shocks, Faulkner 9 x 2.25 325lbs springs. Hub carriers are bespoke aluminium billet machined.
Set-up – a full diametric suspension and corner weight set-up was carried out by suspension guru John Hewat of Aeon Sports Cars (www.aeonsportscars.co.uk) when the car was commissioned.

Wheels:
Knock on Peg drive period 15" Aluminium Hilabrand style wheels imported from the USA.

Electrics:
Bespoke harness made by Martin Santos of Electrical Car Services, fitted with twin FIA battery isolators (one to dash, one to bonnet). Remote race jump-starter located under dash for ease of access.

Fire Protection:
Lifeline 4ltr Fire Marshal system. Fully plumbed in to engine bay and driver cockpit with activation handles on exterior body-work and dashboard.
The FIA fire protection system has been fully refurbished with brand new lightweight aluminium bottle and activation handles all supplied by Lifeline.

Cockpit:

• Road – original and highly sought after leather seats supplied by Hawk Cars, cost £1,200 when purchased in 2011.

• Road – Willans harnesses (4 point). Black in colour.

• Road – period correct wood-rimmed Mota Lita steering wheel (15" flat profile design).

Dashboard instruments include 180mph speedo, 8000rpm tachometer, oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge, water temperate gauge, voltmeter, ATL fuel gauge.

Ignition, fuel pumps and radiator fan are controlled by separate switches on a Tanner Race Panel. Audible alarms are fitted to both oil pressure and indicators. Toggle switches control lights and wipers with a push / pull switch for dipped main beam.
Brake balance is also controlled from the dashboard via a hand operated Tilton wheel. The dashboard also has an electronic Brantz trip computer and map reading light for the navigator.
