The GT3 holds a special place in the 911 range, with GT cars now being the only naturally aspirated 911s on offer. That engine is a 4.0-litre flat-six, which has little in common with the unit found on the rest of the 992 range, and is much more closely related to that found in the GT3 cup car. A slight power bump over the previous generation sees power increase to 503bhp, with 347lb ft of torque. However, as enthusiasts know, the GT3's performance exceeds its numbers on paper.

With the 992 GT3, Porsche implemented the same double wishbone front suspension developed for the 911 RSR, generating superb front-end grip, especially as lateral forces increase in the corners. Also helping with grip is the new four-stage manually adjustable front splitter, fully panelled underbody, large rear diffuser and manually adjustable 'swan neck' rear wing. When set to their most aggressive setting these aero components can generate 150% more downforce than the 991.2 GT3. Accelerate hard from a standstill, holding on to each gear until the 9,000rpm red-line, and you'll reach 62mph in 3.4 seconds, and onto a top speed of 198mph. Put simply, the GT3 is truly a joy to drive, and Porsche has again created one of the finest road cars available.
